Baby Bird came with a favorite toy and this flat, corner perch. She manages to get on and off the perch under her own power. She has a short ladder on one side of it which she sometimes uses, but she mostly uses the cage bars and her beak and feet to get up and down. For those wondering if she has any quality of life, well, yes, she does. Please give her and us a chance!

More of your donation dollars at work this week! It’s Baby Bird! She (?) also saw our avian veterinarian on Tuesday. We weren’t able to accomplish the diagnostic work we were hoping to because the doctor felt Baby Bird wasn’t strong/stable enough to risk sedation for radiographs and a blood draw. She will be going back in two weeks to be reassessed. Hopefully, we can get the diagnostic tests done then. The exam was informative and helpful, though. Not the greatest of news, but not the worst either. * Underweight at 54 grams. If you have a GCC, please comment with the age and weight of your bird. * Cataracts in both eyes but isn’t totally blind * No fracture palpated in left wing but definitely has a left wing injury * General weakness on the left side of the body * Definite head tic * Placed on metacam ● PayPal to avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net ● Venmo: @AvianUnderdogs (6696 is the last 4 digits of our phone #) ● Zelle: 949-584-6696 or avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net

Your donation dollars at work this week! Stevie saw our avian veterinarian on Tuesday. She (?) weighed in at a respectable 350 grams, was her usual spunky, feisty, and full of attitude self during the vet visit. Both the vet tech and veterinarian commented about the attitude! 😂 The head wound is healing well. The vet wanted to wait for two weeks to see if that sticky uppie bit of scalp would fall off of its own accord before surgically removing it, so that’s what we’re going to do. ● PayPal to avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net ● Venmo: @AvianUnderdogs (6696 is the last 4 digits of our phone #) ● Zelle: 949-584-6696 or avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net

Your donation dollars at work this week! Here’s an update on Patches, a found cockatiel. She was found to be weak, underweight, and extremely calcium deficient at her first vet visit two weeks ago. Since then, she has gained weight (up to 83 grams from 72 grams), and regained enough strength to walk, climb, and perch. Yay! There hasn’t been ample time to see if the supplemental calcium and D3 she is receiving has improved her bone density. She will need to receive the calcium supplement for 6 months per her doctor. She will be available for adoption in about two weeks if no owner has been found. Anyone interested in adopting her would have to agree to continuing her calcium treatment. ● PayPal to avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net ● Venmo: @AvianUnderdogs (6696 is the last 4 digits of our phone #) ● Zelle: 949-584-6696 or avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net
