AURA is always in need of volunteer help. If you can assist in any of the following areas, please complete a volunteer application which can be found in the Forms section here. We are grateful for assistance in any of these areas!
Being a caregiver is a very rewarding experience but is very time intensive especially when caring for baby birds and often heartbreaking when a baby or sick or injured bird dies. Being a caregiver is not for the faint hearted. AURA provides training and supplies to our caregivers.
Many of the birds we take in need time in a loving foster home before they are able to be put up for adoption. If you have room in your home and in your heart to foster one or more of our birds waiting for their forever home, please let us know. AURA pays for food and supplies and often is able to provide a cage.
We often find ourselves in need of someone to pick up and deliver birds. Usually this is within Orange County, but there are times when a transport is needed to or from a location outside of Orange County. Sometimes we know ahead of time that a transport is needed but often it needs to be done within a very short time frame.
AURA attends a number of events each year. We always need volunteers to help with setting up and taking down our booth space(s) as well as getting our birds settled in for the event and then safely secured at the end of the event for the trip home. During the event, knowledgeable volunteers are needed to interact with members of the public to answer questions and provide information about the various birds that are attending the event.
