** TRANSPORT NEEDED, SANTA ANA TO LAKE FOREST, TODAY IF POSSIBLE ** Near S Townsend & W Pomona. Being able to speak Spanish will be helpful but not essential. Transporter would likely need a box or carrier for the pigeon. If you can help by transporting, please text or call Terry Whatley 949-584-6696.

We could really use some Hump Day Heroes today. We have three birds at the vet this morning. The only vet visit that was planned for today was for Chewy for his recurring beak trimming and shaping. But, SURPRISE! Also visiting the vet today are Patches, the pied cockatiel found in Westminster, and HoHo, a young pigeon found at the Hollywood Hotel by a very kind tourist who was visiting from another country. Patches is having a great deal of difficulty with walking, climbing, and perching. There is no obvious/visible cause, but something is definitely wrong. HoHo has a sizeable scalped area on his head causing the remaining skin and feathers on the left side to droop down over his left eye. If there is such a thing as a scalp “lift”, HoHo needs one! Please donate if you can. ● PayPal to avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net ● Venmo: @AvianUnderdogs (6696 is the last 4 digits of our phone #) ● Zelle: 949-584-6696 or avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net

** TWO PIGEONS AT PERSHING SQUARE IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE. ** LA Pigeon Peeps, can one or more of you please step up and try to catch these pigeons? The person reporting them is a visitor from out of the country with no transportation and is staying in a hotel. I cannot orchestrate this rescue. I have too many emergency situations and critical care birds to take on trying to organize this rescue tonight or even tomorrow. Someone in LA is going to have to. The white one appears to have an injured wing, and the grey one has a bad eye. The person reporting them is quite pigeon savvy and feels both would be easy catches. Let me repeat, I am not able to organize this rescue. Someone else is going to have to. I can put you in touch with the person reporting the pigeons and will text several of you that are near this location to make sure you are aware. AURA can take the birds and may be able to help with transport, but that’s it.

Here’s an update on Patches, the cockatiel found in Westminster. Patches is underweight at 72 grams and is EXTREMELY calcium deficient. The radiograph taken to determine if there were fractures causing her mobility issues revealed no fractures but did reveal her severe calcium deficiency. Normally, bones are clearly visible in radiographs. With the lack of bone density that Patches has, her bones were barely visible in the radiograph. She is on supplemental calcium and D3 and is being housed in a smallish cage with low perches and food and water easily accessible. The cage bottom is also padded. If Patches should take a big fall, she would likely break some of her fragile bones. It’s really quite amazing that Patches survived her brief time in the wild. Were we expecting another special needs/medical bird? Nope. Did we get one in the form of Patches? Yep. Do we still need donations? Absolutely! Patches has a recheck in two weeks. Please donate if you can. ● PayPal to avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net ● Venmo: @AvianUnderdogs (6696 is the last 4 digits of our phone #) ● Zelle: 949-584-6696 or avianunderdogs@sbcglobal.net
