We could really use some Hump Day Heroes today. We have three birds at the vet this morning. The only vet visit that was planned for today was for Chewy for his recurring beak trimming and shaping. But, SURPRISE! Also visiting the vet today are Patches, the pied cockatiel found in Westminster, and HoHo, a young pigeon found at the Hollywood Hotel by a very kind tourist who was visiting from another country. Patches is having a great deal of difficulty with walking, climbing, and perching. There is no obvious/visible cause, but something is definitely wrong. HoHo has a sizeable scalped area on his head causing the remaining skin and feathers on the left side to droop down over his left eye. If there is such a thing as a scalp “lift”, HoHo needs one! TRANSPORT NEEDED ON SUNDAY MORNING 10/25/26 FROM EITHER LAKEWOOD OR HUNTINGTON BEACH TO LAKE FOREST Two medical case pigeons pulled from the West Valley Animal Shelter last night will need a ride to Lake Forest on Sunday morning 10/25/26 from either Arbor Rd & Coke Ave in Lakewood or 23rd & S Pacific Ave in Huntington Beach. We won’t know the pickup location until Saturday evening. We’re sparing you the photo of the white pigeon. It’s distressing. If you can give these birds a ride on Sunday, please text or call Terry Whatley 949-584-6696.
